Omnicom confirms the release of the CEO, Slavi Samardzija

Slavi Samardzija leaves Annaact of Omnicom Media Group in September, sources interpreting the exit of the CEO as indicating pending changes within the technological and analytical division of the portfolio company.

Distinct sources familiar with developments, which have all requested anonymity to maintain their relations with Holding, told Digiday that the news of the release of Samardzija has surfaced for the first time during the opening week in July. He will be replaced by Adam Gitlin, who has been president of Annalative under Samadzija since 2016.

A spokesperson for the Omnicom media group confirmed the departure of Samardzija from the portfolio company, although it is not clear if the CEO’s exit was part of a wider restructuring. The spokesman refused to say where Samadzija takes place once his time in OMG is over.

“Under the leadership of Slavi, Annaact has extended to a global power for data and analytical innovation,” said Florian Adamski, a global CEO of Omniom Media Group, in an email that also confirmed Gitlin as a replacement. “One of its main forces has always been to constitute exceptional leader-pratic teams-this is why we have all confidence that his successor, Adam Gitlin, will keep Annaact at the forefront of exploration, innovation and transformation.”

Adamski awarded Gitlin to play “a key role in the development of the Omni Marketing orchestration platform, and has brought to the services, capacities and products that have fueled transformer commercial results for our customers.”

A source interpreted the departure of Samardzija as a probable precursor to a strategic restructuring of the portfolio company and presumed that more publicized outings could follow, especially since the company is preparing for a merger / resumption of the Interpublic group, pending final regulatory approval.

For example, recent movements, such as the unification of employee email address formats (regardless of the unit for which they work), suggest that Ombnicom can seek to centralize its structure in favor of disparate marks under the UMG umbrella – a decision that would reflect that of the WPP Rivaux media.

At the end of June, Omnicom received the (qualified) approval of its proposed takeover of $ 13.5 billion in IPG, a decision that would create the largest industry portfolio company, the Federal Trade Commission. For some, this decision means that the union of the two is anything but a fact, which means that the leadership of the portfolio company will seek to achieve $ 750 million in annual savings.

Meanwhile, a distinct source, which has not had contact with Samardzija since his decision to leave, estimated that leadership would have liked to maintain such an influential framework, the three sources noting its role in the development of the current commercial proposal of Omnicom.

Samardzija joined Annaact for the first time in mid-2014 as chief of analysis, finally reached the role of CEO in the three years when he directed the launch of OMNI, the operating system and the orchestration platform on the scale of the company, in 2018.

“While I start my next chapter, I could not be more proud of what we have accomplished, more grateful for the opportunity to work with this team, or more confident in the continuous success of Annalatct under the direction of Adam Gitlin,” wrote Samardzija in an e-mail response.

The launch of OMNI is widely considered to be a transformer development at Omnicom, with an informing Digiday source that the OMNI platform represented the media and the creation agencies of Holding aligning under a single data strategy. In particular, many create this strategy as an instrumental in Omnicom winning the Amazon media enterprise of $ 6 billion, after a six -month competitive land.

“He was the guy in the new commercial arguments speaking of the data strategy,” said a source, which also noted how Samardzija, despite a team of thousands of people at Annalatct who redefined how portfolio companies operationalize the data, often avoid public projectors, rather choosing to highlight the members of his team.

“Annaact is the place where all strategic things happened,” added the source, “everyone at [OMG] Media agencies, even if they may not have reported it, would follow Slavi [Samardzija]”S lead … and with the Omni platform, which established the plan for everyone.”

His departure comes at a time when it is widely provided that the ACXIOM data unit of IPG will become a key ingredient in OMNI, whose open source structure allows him to take data from a certain number of sources. However, the two units worked under a different direction. Since Annaact has played a decisive role in the construction of Omni – and Samardzija played a decisive role in the management of Annaact – it would seem that the inappropriate moment of losing its experience and its expertise.

Another source, which used to work in Annalect, noted that Gitlin would probably provide leadership continuity.

“There has never been a more exciting period – in the industry or within the Omnicom media group – to lead a team that was built for innovation,” Gitlin said in a prepared statement. “Together, we will lead our customers in the next era of data driving opportunities.”

Omnicom should disclose its profits in the second quarter on July 15, with IPG on the right track to do the same on July 22.
