The weather is giving us constant ups and downs these days. Monsoon-like rains are followed a few days later by another big dry heat – it’s definitely summer. And with this, we men face the same problem every year: what shoes can I wear now and, above all, what is allowed and what is prohibited when it comes to heat, office, leisure and shoes for men ? For everyone who is afraid of sweaty feet and can’t afford to wear flip flops, we would like to give you some useful suggestions here.
Leather shoes for a pleasant shoe climate
If you work in a conservative industry, you won’t find many options for relaxing your feet during the hot season. Etiquette forbids it let it happen Appearing in flip-flops and showing bare feet is not necessarily useful for a potential commercial transaction. Purchasing classic welted men’s shoes such as Derby and Oxford can be an alternative. The high leather content and the perfect finish guarantee a pleasant foot climate and give sweaty feet no chance. For all other men who work in a somewhat relaxed work environment or for leisure activities, there are stylish ways to walk comfortably all summer long. We present some examples in more detail below.
If you prefer to wear open shoes in summer, you can also choose stylish leather sandals for men.

moccasins
Let’s start with moccasins. The famous Native American shoes are soft leather slip-on shoes without a heel. The upper passes under the foot. They are extremely light and airy, but again not suitable for long distances due to their soft suede and thin outsole. Their use should focus solely on the leisure sector – moccasins have no place in the business world. They are perfect for a long car trip and can also be worn without socks.
Flâneur
The further development of the moccasin is the moccasin. Perhaps the most well-known slip-on shoe has held a permanent place in American men’s fashion since its invention in the early 20th century. First it was students who appreciated the comfortable lightness of the moccasin, then the rest of the male world followed. In our country it is still mainly known as a purely casual shoe, but in the USA, Japan and Italy it is also often worn for business occasions in its black version. Why should German men give up this relaxed and easy walking experience during the hot months?

Boat shoe
Another classic leisure and summer shoe is the boat shoe. It is typical of the leather strap that surrounds the upper, which guarantees quick adjustment of the width of the shoe, and the rubber sole (on the original model) with the obligatory knife-cut profile. These shoes have long arrived on the continent and are very popular. They can also be worn barefoot and pair perfectly with trendy shorts.

Luxury sneakers for sports shoe lovers
We also don’t want to neglect sneakerheads at this point. Of course, we don’t recommend cheap glued kicks from the Far East. The real summer dream shoes can also be found in the sneaker segment. So-called luxury sneakers combine the airy, light and comfortable advantages of sports shoes with the graceful elegance and craftsmanship of classic men’s shoes. These match welted shoes in terms of durability and dimensional stability and have little in common with common street sports shoes. If you want to wear shorts with it, it is best to use slippers. These socks end at the ankle and are ideally not visible.

Trend des Sommers: Espadrilles
We’re not really fans of trends, because true shoe classics are timeless, but we can’t ignore espadrilles either. These models, which are now often wrongly called espadrilles, are lightweight slip-on summer shoes whose upper without closure is made of cotton or linen, while the sole is made of knotted plant fibers (linen, hemp). Espadrilles are always worn barefoot. They are extremely light, breathable and comfortable. Picasso and Dalí already knew this, as many photographs show. Whether with shorts or a linen suit, nothing can go wrong with these classic summer shoes in your free time.
By the way: the sock thing
With few exceptions, men should always wear socks when wearing closed-toe shoes. Less for aesthetic reasons than for hygienic reasons. Without socks, your feet sweat too easily. This can also affect the shoe. Of course, this is not a license for white tennis socks. They are still absolutely banned from center court.
